Malawi

Scaling to create value

Insights

20,000+ observations and counting! In February 2023, our service was rolled out to 70+ monitoring stations of Malawi's Department of Water Resources and the Department of Climate Change & Meteorological Services. Stations are located across Malawi to gather information that supports the Government's efforts in managing water and climate risks.

We ramped up capacity building to enable true community engagement. Consistently, the Gauge Readers and Observers send observations above 80% of time and quality requirement (surpassing WMO standard).

The resilience of manual observations was evident after Cyclone Freddy March 2023, when many returned to sending measurement and easily reported if equipment needed repair.
